Azureus 3.0 was launched today.  The latest revision to the wildly popular Bittorrent client is a major departure from the interface found in previous versions.  In an apparent effort to monetize the open source application, Azureus has been bonded with a new web site called Zudeo.com.  The site seems to be engineered with the intent to further popularize torrent use by indexing content that does not infringe on content copyright holders...

How to Delete Autofill Options in Firefox from General Posts
November 11, 2006
Mozilla recently released Firefox 2.0.  While the esthetics of the changes were minimal, the browser has clearly come a long way.  With 2.0, the interface icons are more refined and the tabs look a little more polished.  Perhaps the most impressive and long overdue feature to be added is spellchecking.  But for all of its refinements, sometimes Firefox still manages to leave me frustrated.  In this case, the browsers autofill feature can be problematic...

Mac Application Removes iTunes DRM from Technology Posts
October 30, 2006
Mac users being held hostage by Apple’s iTunes DRM (digital rights management) might have something the cheer about.  A possible reprieve is being offered by seidai.50webs.com.  The tool is called FairGame and it aims to free users from Apple’s DRM known as FairPlay.

FairGame is a Mac application that essentially uses scripting to automate a process of re-encoding iTunes music using iMovie and iTunes.  The benefit of this particular process is that the music’s metadata, lyrics, and artwork remain intact.  Quite creative, all things considered...

Apple Sells Virus to Windows Users? from Technology Posts
October 18, 2006
In a disappointing turn of events, it seems that a number of iPods that rolled off of Apple’s assembly line were infected with a virus known as RavMonE.exe.  As the name implies, it one effects Windows based PCs.  This incident is a major black-eye for Apple and only stands to worry a good portion of the iPods customer base.  Like them or not, Windows users shouldn’t have to worry about their latest gadget infecting their computer when it ships from the factory.  That being said, Windows users have a lot of things to worry about that should simply be non-issues...

Keeping Two Macs in Sync from Technology Posts
October 3, 2006
When it comes to the Mac power user, it’s not unusual to have two computers that are used in tandem.  In many cases these computers include a portable (iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, MacBook Pro) and a work horse tower.  The laptop is used when the user is on the road, and the tower for all of the internal office heavy lifting.  The challenge for a user like this is finding a way to keep data in sync.  This has been my situation for many years.  In order to keep a smooth workflow, I had to find a way to keep my files mirrored between the two machines...

Apple Store

Project Motorsport:

Project Motorsport started out as a fun way to spend an afternoon. We set out to shoot some motorcycle video and have a good time. Once when we brought the video back and began to edit, we realized we had the making of a music video.

Check out the video and see for yourself. And, if your interested in further information on the project, we give you that too!

The Freedom to Switch:

In 2003 Apple Computer released a marketing campaign with the intention of showing Wintel users how easy it would be to "switch" platforms.

One of the Mac's main selling points, ironically enough, was Digital Video Editing. Apple wanted the world to see how easy it was to edit video on the Mac platform. And, in overwhelming response, Mac users set out to show the world just how easy it really was.

The campaign was effective for Apple, but also spawned a unexpected parody campaign in the Mac underworld. Users from all of the world whipped out their camcorders and set to work making spoofs in the same cinematic style as the acclaimed commercial line.

With this, Maclive.net rose to the challenge and shot our own spoof. We think it proves that a Mac can be a powerful tool in the wrong hands. It also shows how far a couple of Mac fans will go for a laugh. We hope you enjoy our contribution, aptly named The Freedom to Switch.
